Mexico City Arrests 'El Seven', Crime Group Leader

The Mexico City Prosecutor's Office executed an arrest warrant against Juan 'N', alias 'El Seven', identified as the probable leader of a faction of the criminal organization La Familia Michoacana. The detainee was linked to high-impact crimes such as drug trafficking, extortion, and homicide in the southern zone of the capital, as well as in municipalities of the State of Mexico and Morelos. After his capture, authorities transferred Juan 'N' to the South Male Preventive Prison, where he is at the disposal of the judicial authority to determine his legal situation. Due to the lack of response from the convicted individual and his defense, the judicial authority ordered his re-apprehension. Intelligence work and technical tracking allowed the accused to be located in the municipality of Amecameca de Juárez, State of Mexico. Juan 'N' had a previous sentence for the crime of qualified homicide in the degree of attempt. The events occurred on September 6, 2019, in the Milpa Alta alcaldía, where he assaulted a person with a sharp object. For this case, on October 27, 2021, a judge imposed a five-year prison sentence through an abbreviated procedure. At that time, he was granted the benefit of suspended sentence under conditional liberty treatment, conditioned to comply with periodic appearances before the authority. Due to non-compliance with his procedural obligations, the Public Ministry promoted the revocation of said benefit. The arrest was carried out this Tuesday, January 27, in collaboration with the State of Mexico Attorney General's Office (FGJEM).
